If I write the script for a succesful hollywood movie, how much money would I make?

Hey there.

Imagine I write the script for a succesful horror hollywood movie. How much money do you think I would make? Only by giving them the script.

Like, a movie as succesful as... The pirates of the carribian? If I write the script for a succesful hollywood movie, how much money would I make?A screenplay can be sold for as little as $0 or as much as $6,000,000.

As an unknown writer, you'd probably fall very close to $0.

Most screenplays sell for mid- to low- six-figures.

NOTES:

- There's no such thing as 'the mastermind' in screenwriting. There's no 'credit' for it, either, beyond being given first position screenwriter.

- You don't 'submit your manuscript.' No one in Hollywood accepts unsolicited material.

- A screenplay is sold or optioned, it's not 'submitted.'

- A director probably won't give you anything; studios and production companies are the ones who usually purchase screenplays.

- There are no royalties for screenwriting. You write, you get a check, you move on.If I write the script for a succesful hollywood movie, how much money would I make?Well, you would be credited as the mastermind behind it all, because you as the writer created the visionary. What happen is when you submit your manuscript of your scrrenplay, the company either keeps on the shelf, or an agent (your agent) tends to sell it to a director. Let's say the director gives you 5,000,000 just for a great screenplay, those 5 million are yours to keep. However, you still get royalty for just thinking of the story plot. Neat huh?
