How does Hollywood produce killing scenes?

I'm watching a horror movie right now and I have always been curious about this. How does Hollywood create the killing scenes. For example, a character gets stabbed or sliced by the killer. Mostly in the R rated movies, they show the character getting killed. They zoom in and show the knife or blunt object hitting or going through their body. How do they actually pull that off as looking real in the movie? Any guesses? How does Hollywood produce killing scenes?I assume they are actually killing the person. :) Makes for a more terrifying story. But for reality I would guess they use a lot of CGI (Computer Generated Images) to make it look real. That's just a guess. haha Anyway if you add up all the people that have died in horror movies, Hollywood has killed off a lot of people. How does Hollywood produce killing scenes?they use a plastic or rubber dummy filled with blood or w/e they can make it look life like
