Do you find it ridiculous that it is a lot harder for a Conservative to get a job in Hollywood than a Liberal?

I hope the average everyday Liberal on here does not think like those in Hollywood. I find Hollywood to be a perfect example of EXTREME Liberal hate.Do you find it ridiculous that it is a lot harder for a Conservative to get a job in Hollywood than a Liberal?I think more creative people tend to be more liberal than conservative..as a whole. It is easier to expound upon your political beliefs when you have a forum and money. Many of the high paid actors do give a lot to charities and such. They have a right to express their opinions, and I have the right not to pay any attention to them.. I don't see EXTREME liberal hate from Hollywood, but then I don't take what they say or do seriously.





The 'average' liberal across American is probably more moderate. They will have some liberal and some conservative views. Very few people are going to be 100% of either ideology.

There is huge irony in that. Entertainers look back on the McCarthy era and talk about the horror and evil of the black listing....but they do it themselves now. Every time you see an actor come on a talk show watch how they have to push some buttons and hit some buzzwords. Remember when Bush was in office? Every actor or actress who wanted to work had to blurt out things about the President, sometimes just out of some bizarre context or moment when they would just, hey I really hate Bush. SNL has become virtually a left wing political troupe. It showed up in shows...watching the Gilmore Girls rerun the other day and the Lorelai character was in a social setting with her daughter and just out of no where blurted I really hate President Bush...had nothing to do with anything..the actress had to get that out there, or the director wanted it included. Yes, if you are conservative or a Republican you are not working much in Holllywood and its part of sort of culture Gestapo who wants to convey the idea to all Americans that they must not support anything but the Dem party line. I am a Dem, voted for Obama but I am not a big fan of fascism. And so if you are a liberal I challenge you to pay attention to free speech and how liberals try to suppress anyting other than the liberal view.Do you find it ridiculous that it is a lot harder for a Conservative to get a job in Hollywood than a Liberal?It must be that people don't like being called thugs, and there are many unions in Hollywood, including those for actors.

Heston, Heaton, Selleck have had steady work, once you understand that few actors ever have a steady long term success its easier to see that you can blame your political convictions for the lack of jobs, when its just the natural way of the business.



I think its a perfect example of Conservative lack of realizing facts they don't like and blaming Liberals for every negative thing they experience. Where's that personal responsibility thing when life isn't going your way?
As a liberal, I don't give 2 shits what my favorite actor thinks about politics. In fact, I've been a big fan of Kelsey Grammar and Dennis Miller who are both conservatives. Also, there's a lot of conservative film makers who are hugely popular like Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay, and their films make a ton of money. Film adaptations from Tom Clancy's books are also very popular and he is very conservative.

There are more libs than cons in the film industry, true, but look at the areas where most films are produced. LA, Chicago, New York. All heavily liberal areas. If you want more films with conservative actors, directors, producers, etc, then a film industry needs to be set up in places like Houston and Atlanta.Do you find it ridiculous that it is a lot harder for a Conservative to get a job in Hollywood than a Liberal?I know! can you believe how Reagan had to have all of his betters thrown in jail during the Red Scare to move from B list cowboy films to A list ones... And my goodness, conservative actors who are actually artful and good actors like Charlton Heston and Mel Gibson would never be cast in a Hollywood movie!

Just to name a few of my favorite Mel Gibson Hollywood blockbusters. I haven't seen "The Beaver" yet, but I've heard he's amazing. Personally, I could care less if I'm being entertained by a conservative or a liberal, or a communist or a fascist. This goes for musicians, athletes and actors. All I care is that they're good at their art, and both Sean Penn and Mel Gibson (on opposite ends of the political spectrum) are great at what they do.Do you find it ridiculous that it is a lot harder for a Conservative to get a job in Hollywood than a Liberal?
Craig T. (When I was on welfare, and food stamps the government never helped me out) Nelson seems to get work. Besides, there weren't too many left after Fux news swept up all the pretty conservatives, and right wing hate radio took all the ugly ones.

Hollywood and art comes naturally to Liberals. They have a talent for living in another world, being something or someone they are not and pretending to have powers they do not have.
No. Hollywood is a culture built on liberal ideas, which repel conservatives. There's no hate going on from the Hollywood types - they're too busy having fun with the money conservatives spend to go see their crappy movies.
How would anybody know they're a conservative? Do they wear a conservative sign around their neck?

You have to be a good actor in order to get into Hollywood. Its not rocket science.

I bet a lot of the liberals n Hollywood are closet conservatives. I know I was in college (for the dumb liberal chicks).
