It is the correction that was needed years ago, bu buoyed by spending on foreign policy and the wars.

Depends on how long the government refuses to allow the system to correct itself naturally. Artificial government interference contributed in large part to the current problem just as it did the Great Depression. Continued government interference does not promise to produce better results than that of the thirties. Buckle up, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

You think we're in a recession right now? Just wait another 6 months. We've only just begun. Reading the stories everyday about the stock market is a joke. It's going to go down big time, and everyday the writers about the stock markets act surprised that it's down.

Call it what you will, this so called recession will rival the 30's, make no mistake about it.
Worse then most hope... Expect a minor begin at a turn around about late 2009. Could have been much worse. Going to be painful for the lowest 10%. Also the CEOs who should have their heads handed to them, they will get what they deserve...



What little credibility Paulson still retains will be gone in 3 months also.

I think it will turn around in spring 09 when Obama turns this ship away from the waterfall.
I'm guessing it's the latter. Fascist, competitive, consumer capitalism is coming to an end. It has to. As E.O. Wilson wrote, if every human on the planet tried to live the lifestyle of the average U.S. citizen we would need the resources of 5 more Earth like planets to accommodate them. Since the super rich powers that be will put off a complete tear down and reconstruction of our global political, economic and social systems for as long as they possibly can, things are bound to get very ugly for everyone.
It will be the worst for China, with less and less business they'll have to fire millions of people, There will be social unrest the likes the world has never seen
