Why is it okay to make millions if you're a Hollywood actor or a Congressman, but not if you're a CEO?

I don't understand the logic. The first ones I hear to stand up and cry foul over million dollar salaries are millionaires in Congress and Hollywood? It boggles the mind.

And don't give me the weak argument about how "CEOs got rich on the backs of others", blah, blah, blah. You think Hollywood A-listers and Congressman pull money out of thin air?Why is it okay to make millions if you're a Hollywood actor or a Congressman, but not if you're a CEO?You can make just as much money as you want if you share the politics of the left. I agree that there is plenty of reasons to question the salaries and bonuses paid to many of the Wall Street and Banker types, but most of it is just a smoke screen. The politics of envy is very powerful to the left. Where is their outrage at the likes of George Soros? Talk about someone that makes piles of money off the misfortunes of others, this guy should be the poster boy!Why is it okay to make millions if you're a Hollywood actor or a Congressman, but not if you're a CEO?
It's okay to make millions doing anything that you like, as far as I'm concerned. But the CEOs made millions while they failed to do their jobs properly. They were in complete control of their company and the organization failed so badly that it took huge segments of unconnected americans down with it, economically. If the NBA player played as poorly as the CEOs of certain companies performed, you would hear the exact same outrage and demand that they give the money back, probably even more so.Why is it okay to make millions if you're a Hollywood actor or a Congressman, but not if you're a CEO?The Hollywood actors aren't making their millions by screwing the hell out of the rest of us. That's the part you don't understand. The CEOs that you're so fond of would happily leave you and your entire family homeless if it meant making a bit more money. You mean nothing to the people you are trying to protect.

Perhaps movie starts don't deserve the huge salaries they make. But they are doing actual work, and aren't destroying lives in the process.

As for Congressmen, most of them are independently wealthy. You don't really get rich from being in Congress, unless you retire and go work for a lobbying firm.
I don't think very many people have a problem with anyone making money. I think the issue becomes more complicated when oil companies claim they have to raise prices on gasoline but end up making record profits. Or when banks need to be bailed out by taxpayers and then give giant bonuses to their higher-ups. The issue, as usual, is more complicated than it is being portrayed.

I also think that it is an unfortunate fact that our society values athletes, actors, and CEOs more than we value teachers, police, firefighters, and military servicemembers.

I do, however, appreciate your name. Why is it okay to make millions if you're a Hollywood actor or a Congressman, but not if you're a CEO?Congresspersons don't make a million a year.

It's not making millions we object to: it's making tens of millions in salary, AND tens of millions more in bonuses -- and making it by nearly destroying the economy. THAT'S what we object to.

That and the fact that CEOs pay a LOWER rate of tax than their least-paid employees. Why is it okay to make millions if you're a Hollywood actor or a Congressman, but not if you're a CEO?
PRESIDENT OBAMA: "Now, what we鈥檙e doing, I want to be clear, we鈥檙e not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that's fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you've made enough money"

ugh, so many people didn't see or read what you referring to. but they sure got an opinion!!

Makes me wonder if Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin -PM of Russia, decided to cap bankers

or stockbrokers salaries, would they say, communism is coming back? Govt controlling private business?
Everyone should be allowed to make as much money as they want to, Obama wants them to pay higher taxes to redistribute it to those who LEECH off of others hard workWhy is it okay to make millions if you're a Hollywood actor or a Congressman, but not if you're a CEO?
I agree with Kevin B. Just look at Bill Gates compared to Walmart. The media demonizes Walmart for making so much money but not Bill Gates because he's an extreme liberal.
Everyone should be able to make as much as they want in America, but not according to Obama.
Neither of them deserve it. Teachers deserve it.
Because. Typical Liberal answer. Hey if you're a CEO who wants to help the Liberals they are all for you.
Don't forget Athletes and the Rap Noise bunch.
One word ... LIBERAL

You will go mad trying to reason with them or like them.

Don't try. It is a mental disorder.
I think they're talking about the ones making 1/2 a billion. Not a million or two.
