I am inclined to wait but it is a tough one - if you do go for solid asset companies that you feel will be around a long time cause to make any real money you will have to be prepared to hold for a fair few years.

It is very tempting right now though.
Depends on what kind of stock your interested in buying, If the stock is at an all time low, then understand that whatever money you put in you will need to ride out long term to make any kind of return.



Take a look at 3M(MMM:NYSE) stock. They are at an all time low in 5 yrs So If I had a vast amount of capital, I would invest now, because chances are 3M will slowly come back up to $80.00/Share within the next 10 yrs. Yes. Prices are down, so you get more shares for your money. If you had bought a few months ago, you would have already lost a lot. Now, you can invest less and still have as much as if you had invested more earlier. Also, the market historical does best right after a big loss.
Like buffet said "now is the time to be greedy". Prices are down. you will get more shares for you money.
