I know off Lethal Weapon 2 and Blood Diamond where the Boers were always the bad guys. In American movies they are usually portrayed as angry racists who have body builder bodies and shoving black people around. The answer is NO. Possibly the most sympathetic portrayal of Boers in any (non-South African) major film that I have seen was the scene in Breaker Morant (an Australian film, not Hollywood) where an old Boer sings Saarie Marais for the entertainment of British Army officers who are part of the force occupying the Transvaal at the end of the South African War in 1902. That same film portrayed Boers as murderous savages though. One day I hope to see someone like Mel Gibson tell the story of Jan Smuts in a Braveheart-like epic.Has Hollywood ever made a movie about good Boers?As usual you are only here to spew your uninformed drivel !

Blood diamond does not feature any ''Boers'' as the movie is about happenings in Sierra Leone and not about South Africa ! There is about 3800km in between the counties .

Some scenes were shot in South Africa because Sierra Leone does not have the proper infra-structure .

There are countless movies with good Boers in them ! The most recent is ''Faith like potatoes '' based on a true story .

Three weeks ago we had a gathering of 60 000 Men =Boers

Listen, you are being unfair now. Lethal Weapon II was the biggest load of rubbish ever made, featuring the now disgraced anti-semite racist alcoholic Mel Gibson. In Blood Diamond the main character is actually an Anglo-African, a Rhodesian. The mercenaries are South African but the focus is on the illicit diamond gangs and boy soldiers who are definitely not "Boers".



A film that comes to mind is Breaker Morant, set during the Second Anglo-Boer War in which the Boers are portrayed much as they probably were and the British too, it doesn't have any "good guys" as such.



In Zulu, Aardendorf is portrayed as an amiable Boer who helps Messrs. Bromhead and Chard hold out against the onslaught at Rorkes Drift.



But listen, Hollywood makes films that usually have bad guys with English accents or Arabs and good guys who are American, if the "Boers" want to they should make their own films.
I wonder whether you actually know what a Boer is?
