In Hollywood movies like "Drag Me To Hell" and "Thinner" for example they portray Gypsies as racially looking like most Tea Party members.



I have been to Romania which has a very large Gypsy population, and most of them are definitely not White. Most Gypsies I have seen there have Brown skin.

Gypsy can be a broad term. One large group is the Irish Travelers. Not everything Gypsy is from Romania although most earlier movies always seemed to portray gypsies as being dark. Typically when used as a "fortune- teller".



I suppose true Gypsies would speak Rom and have their own king, but now-a-days, in the broad sense, it is meant as a traveling group of thieves and con artists. The Polish Gypsy and Irish Travelers DO look like white adult to middle aged people.



Now, I think your political side is showing when you use Tea Party members as an example of Gypsies. They have more olive like complections in the old world in party because places like Romania have lots of people with that same complection and they tend to remain in tight knit family groups. In America they've intermarried so much that many Gypsies are more European than Gypsy. Not that America has very many Gypsies. Most who came here long ago assimilated and the modern "Gypsies" are people who've revived the old customs and who had some sort of Gypsy heritage.



As for casting, that's mostly who's agent is paying best. I've seen quite a few roles so badly miscast that it's insane. Sometimes it's also politics. Like a Black man trying to infiltrate Nazi Germany LOL (Dirty Dozen). Even the choice of the German speaking American was very dark complected compared to Germans and would have likely roused a great deal of suspicion no matter how good his German was. However Bronson did a great job with the role. So while the casting was way off in terms of realism the actor they picked did a great job. The actress who played the Gypsy in Drag me to hell was great at being an old hag. I suspect that is why they picked her not her complextion.

Back on point... Anyhow that was the way Hollywood did things then. They could not have a "real" inter-racial couples touch in a romantic nature.. It was socially taboo

its called propganda just like in all the movies that they make are very and i mean very nice to jews. now look at who runs hollywood and there main core of bankers, studios, actors, directors, writers etc.... its mostly liberals and jews and yes there also big obama supporters.

Simple, white sells, no more no less. I'm half Gypsy, and trust me I have never seen a Gypsy on TV or in the movies who looks remotely like me or my ancestors.
Not all Gypsies are Romanians. Who says white means porcelain-skinned, anyway?
