I need some help with my dissertion. At the moment i'm trying to compare how white actresses are represented in lead roles in 21st century hollywood. To black actresses.

I think it is a more of a possibility than not. I haven't watched every single movie with black American women but when I do watch them, most of the roles they play are stereotypical, for example;

There's plenty of black roles for black American women in movies about salons, they always have this street attitude. I hardly see any movies where a black woman played a successful role, except for one movie where she was a business woman.

Then if it is not street women they are playing, it is mother-figure roles and no sex appeal. Some black movies show things that black American people went through however most of the time that is all they show. So yes, I believe they represent stereotypical roles.

Precious was a film written by a BLACK PERSON and it won spirit awards or whatever. There was a white woman social worker in it.

Instead of blaming the media for your problems, look to yourselves first because every negative stereotype people complain about is reinforced over and over and over again and the black people who try to point this out get attacked for it. :)

I personally feel there is a difference between lead roles among races. Many are very well stereotypical.
