I was just thinking because there are quite a few British actors/actresses in Hollywood and was wondering how successful would you need to be in the UK to make it to Hollywood (e.g. star in a TV Series or a leading role in a blockbuster)How impressive would an actors/actresses resum茅 have to be to get into Hollywood if they were successful here? You are asking this question without context of the business dynamics in how agencies, actors and filmmakers/producers work together. There is no one magic level of impressive resume in Britain or anywhere else in the world that will translate to success in Hollywood. There are simply too many variables at work. Earning or even being considered for the lead role in a blockbuster Hollywood film has more to do with how local British films you starred in performed at festivals or in the world wide markets. At that level some of the variables are about salary demands and scheduling conflicts as anything else. As I said, too many variables at play.
Another thing is, Hollywood will already be aware of who the up and coming British actors are, they do not wait for some resume and just read it. Agents are tasked with bringing money into their agencies and that means finding talent that is on the cusp of stardom because if the actors do not work, the agents make no money. More often than not that talent is poached from lesser agencies that simply do not have the infrastructure or power to take that actor to the next level. The entire cast of Trainspotting got their larger break when that film performed at festivals and word of mouth spread throughout the agencies. So you see, at a certain level, one is not just mailing in "impressive" resumes to agencies. It's a much more complex dance than that.
