Why are there so many Hollywood celebrities at Obama's inauguration ?

I voted for Obama, but this inauguration is really over the top. I can't believe entertainers like Usher and Beyonce and so many other Hollywood types are there. Does anyone else think that this kind of over the top celebration is a bit much? Does anyone else think that Obama should prove himself prior to such a celebration? Is anyone else concerned that this kind of symbolism is exactly what we don't need in a recession?Why are there so many Hollywood celebrities at Obama's inauguration ?150 million but half of that is being paid through donations and there is increase security in case anyone tries to be crazy.

Why are there so many Hollywood celebrities at Obama's inauguration ?That kind of symbolism is precisely what we DO need. Think of it has a huge pep rally. A lot of people are out of work, others struggling to make ends meet and uncertain about the future. The concert today was basically saying that we have been through tough times before and we'll get through these current difficulties if we work together. There is nothing corny or sentimental about that. It goes to the core of who we are as a people. Americans tend to be very optimistic. It can't hurt to reinforce that optimism from time to time. You can focus on the entertainers if you wish but you are ignoring the 100's of thousands of ordinary Americans who were also there and part if it all.

Think about the relief that money could do in this economy. All those movie stars are all making their reservation to sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom. It's starts at $50,000 a night.



Obama is a whore. All that talk about change and hope is a bunch of BS. If you bought that, then you are lame and weak minded.



Republicans aren't any better but the Democrats are bigger spenders and bigger complainers! An honest man would cut his own budget as a show of sensitivity for people who are losing the jobs and homes. This is proof he couldn't care less about people. He is ready to rule like a king. You peons pay your taxes promptly we are going to have a lavish party.

They're all excited to be part of this and if they've got the money and connections to attend, why not? Probably some of those big names are donating, not really taking. Let 'em have their fun.
Because they are mostly socialist democrats. They typically have no idea what they are talking about. They should just read lines from a script and shut their mouths.
This a historical moment in our history, just maybe we are getting past racism. We need to celebrate, not go shopping.

I dunno, I mean I don't really see what the problem is. This is a historical moment in history and so I personally feel that it's justified. I mean, I guess it is a little much but really, I just think everyone is happy to be able to see and witness such a time in history.



That's just how I feel on this.
I am very concerned about this too. Why are we celebrating Obama like he is some sort of idol? A good President wouldn't need recognition like this. Celebrities aren't some of brightest people anyway (look at Britney Spears or Paris Hilton). These are dangerous times that we are living in. Of course, Obama is still someone who is very unproven.



This cult like following seems to me like pride before the fall. All I know is that HUMBLE PIE doesn't taste so good.
Why is it over the top for people to want to sing/perform the weekend prior to the inauguration? They are volunteering to sing/perform. Why weren't you outraged when McCain had all sorts of Celebrities (albeit D listers) at all of his speeches?

The fact is, this is a historic day. If it bothers you, turn off your TV. He has been given the exact same amount of money from the treasury that Clinton and Bush received. ALL other money is being donated by supporters privately. It is their right to donate.
Americans are excited.... and this symbolism is exactly what our economy needs.... spending money generates more money... people have been afraid to spend for much too long!
