What happens to the sets that Hollywood uses when they are through with them.?

I am wondering what happens to the sets that they use in Hollywood after the shows run has ended. I see a lot of nice items on these sets but never see them on Ebay.What happens to the sets that Hollywood uses when they are through with them.?Different studios do different things with them , a majority are dismantled and the materials are reused for new sets . Some sets are given to museums such as the Hollywood History museum [ plant of the apes ] some are buried in the desert for a later date [ Stargate] . Most of the set dressings are reused .What happens to the sets that Hollywood uses when they are through with them.?They sell them after they reuse them a lot of times.

Probably not on ebay though.What happens to the sets that Hollywood uses when they are through with them.?I'm sure they use them for other sets.
