Removing the brakes of a bike renders it illegal to ride on the public roads and streets. In some countries a shop that sell bikes without brakes can be fined one million $. Some states are passing laws, after several pedestrians have been killed by brake-less bikes, that will fine $1000 for riding without brakes.

it's called fixie bikes, or fixed gear. to describe it simply the chain is basically attached to the wheel directly, if you stop pedaling the wheel will stop turning, if you pedal backwards the wheel will spin backwards etc.I keep seeing bicycles in hollywood movies with no brakes?
Some bikes have the type of brakes that work when you pedal backwards. I had that type of bike when I was younger, you couldn't pedal backwards like on a normal bike and instead when you pedaled backwards the bike would slow down and stop.I keep seeing bicycles in hollywood movies with no brakes?coaster brakes
